Frequently Asked Questions

What is this new NPA logo?

The current logo is a placeholder, and we don’t have vectorized formats of the old logo. We plan on launching a logo design contest via www.99designs.com. It is a service whereby you can get a fantastic logo in 7 days. NPA members and friends will be invited rate and comment on the various designs.

Do I have to pay to join the site?

You can register to the website free of charge, but functionality will be limited. You won’t be able to participate in the private members-only forums and you won’t be able to post and view members-only articles or read news in the members-only pages.

The NPA can waive membership fees for some scientists and researchers experiencing economic hardships. We also realize that the membership fee may be significant for scientists and researchers in certain countries with different currencies and purchasing powers.

If you would like to have your membership waived, you can communicate with us through the contact form to the right, and someone will contact you to discuss. Decisions to waive membership fees are on a case-by-case basis.

Can I upgrade after signing up?

Yes, you can upgrade at any time after signing up.

What happened to my profile? Where are my abstracts and my photo?

This functionality is yet to be implemented. We hope to fully automate this process so that it is not required to manually upload abstracts and a photo which were available in the old website. It should be fully completed by the end of August 2014.

When is the next conference?

We still don’t have a definite date and location for the next conference. However it seems likely that the next conference will be held in Baltimore (Maryland) on the heels of the Vigier conference in late November.

How do I get to the forums?

The discussion forums are found under the “Member Area” top menu item. Visitors to the website who are not logged in will not see any forums listed. Users who are registered and logged in will only see and participate in the “Open Discussions” forum. Only members will be able to see and participate in the “Science and Philosophy” and “NPA Operations” forums. Here is a direct link to the discussion forums page.

Where can I find the abstracts which were on the old website?

We had to go live with our new website before all development was complete, so a lot of the information has not been mapped to the new website. For example, getting abstracts and papers from specific authors, events or categories. However, we did make all member abstracts and papers available on one page so they are all accessible, but perhaps not in the most user friendly manner. Previous member works can all be found in the previous works web page. While on that page, you can use your brwoser’s find function. Most browsers implement ctrl-f as a shortcut for the find function.

Where can I get the NPA proceedings Volumes 2-6?

We are still trying to locate these missing volumes in electronic format, a task proving a bit difficult without the assistance of former directors and webmaster. We are confident that we will succeed, we will scan hundreds of pages if we have to. In the meanwhile, we have made the current proceedings available here. In addition, we uploaded the table of contents so members can finally evaluate and review any of the Proceedings before purchasing.

How do I write an article?

To post an article you must be a registered member (dues paid, unless waived). When you are logged in, there should appear a darl gray bar across the top of the web page. You should see a menu item +New. When you hover over it, you will have the options “post”, to make a post and “media” to upload any supporting images or media. More thorough instructions including tips and tricks will follow, and we are available to help personaly if needed. This website runs on wordpress, so there are a lot of resources available on the internet which explain how to make posts and upload media.
