Description

The Natural Philosophy Alliance (NPA) is devoted mainly to broad-ranging, fully open-minded criticism, at the most fundamental levels , of the often irrational and unrealistic doctrines of modern physics and cosmology; and to the ultimate replacement of these doctrines by much sounder ideas developed with full respect for evidence, logic, and objectivity. Such reforms have long been urgently needed; and yet there is no area of scholarship more stubbornly censorial, and more reluctant to reform itself.

A Galilean Multiverse?  A Simple Physical Model of a Fractal Cosmos

A new model of a cosmos with hierarchical Universes depends on the existence of three-dimensional (3D) standing wave (SW) patterns of various ranks. Various aspects of this model are explored, both qualitatively and quantita-tively, using simple geometries and simple physical concepts. The number of particles in our Universe is shown to equal the square of the ratio between the radius of the Universe and the effective radius of a particle. It is shown that a series of Universes terminates with our visible Universe.

Absence of the Relativistic Transverse Doppler Shift at Microwave Frequencies

An experiment is described showing that a 33-GHz microwave signal received by rotating antennas is not exhibiting the frequency shift (“transverse Doppler effect”) predicted by the relativistic Doppler formula. The sensitivity of the apparatus used has been tested to be sufficient for detecting frequency shifts as small as 10 3 Hz which corresponds to the value of (v c)2 = 5 10 14 used in the transverse Doppler shift experiment reported here. From the observed absence of the transverse Doppler shift it is concluded that either the time dilation predicted by the standard theory of special relativity does not exist in reality or, if it does, is a phenomenon which does not depend on relative velocities but may be a function of absolute velocities in the fundamental frame of the isotropic microwave background radiation. The Asymptotic Box

An asymptote is a goal that can probably never be reached, and if reached, cannot be crossed. If crossed, there may be no return. There are at least six asymptotes that apply to our universe. A box has six sides. Consequently, we can use the metaphor that our universe is an asymptotic box. The six asymptotes of the natural world that apply to our universe are birth, death, the speed of light, absolute zero, gravitational collapse limit, and the superforce. There is also an asymptotic box of scientific reasoning. The paper will define the asymptotes and then discuss various consequences.

The gravitational superforce hypothesis states: The gravitational force is always equal to a constant superforce for the same mass and distance that exists at the mass energy equivalence of the gravitation potential energy. A specific superforce that impacts a broad range of theoretical physics and cosmology is defined by this hypothesis. This superforce is suggested as a baseline for comparison with any future superforce.

Unified ‘No Field’ Theory and the Bohr Atom

Writing in a recent issue of Galilean Electrodynamics, Osborne and Pope proposed, and to some extent demonstrated, that all forces are due to conservation of angular momentum, and not due to gravity, electrostatic, inertia, or other forces. The central idea is that material objects, neutral mass, and charged mass, when moving in a ‘natural’ orbit about another body, experience no forces. Also presented was the idea that orbits, and not rectilinear motions, are the natural motions of particles. While Pope and Osborne developed the idea somewhat at the macro and micro levels, the author of the present paper re-examines these ideas at the micro level in a slightly different manner, using the Bohr Atom. What is demonstrated is that the electrical forces associated with Coulomb’s Law can be attributed to angular momentum or kinetic energy moments, instead of electric charges.
